Volám sa Karol Husár a som otcom šiestich detí. Život vo väčšej rodine nás naučil mnohému, ale predovšetkým jednej zásadnej veci – vážiť si chlieb. Boli časy, keď sme si v mnohých situáciách uvedomovali jeho hodnotu viac než inokedy. Často sme vtedy zažívali nezištnú pomoc od známych, ale aj úplne cudzích ľudí.

Dnes, keď oslavujem 70. narodeniny, cítim, že nastal čas tento „dlh štedrosti“ splatiť. Svoju cestu do Santiaga de Compostela neberiem len ako osobnú výzvu, ale ako spôsob, akým chcem nepriamo poďakovať všetkým, ktorí kedysi pomohli nám a tiež pomôcť tam, kde je to potrebné najviac.

Minulú jeseň som úspešne prešiel slovenskú Svätojakubskú cestu z Košíc do Bratislavy a vďaka štedrosti darcov sa mi podarilo nasýtiť celú školu v Zambii. Od začiatku mi záležalo na tom, aby moja pomoc bola adresná, konkrétna a mala jasný dopad. Cez program organizácie Mary's Meals - Nasýťte školu je to možné. Táto skúsenosť ma povzbudila pokračovať ďalej. Teraz na ňu nadväzujem a pokračujem ďalej na západ. Moja trasa vedie cez Rakúsko, Nemecko, Švajčiarsko a Francúzsko až do španielskeho Santiaga. Čaká ma viac ako 3.000 kilometrov pešo.

Svoju námahu na ceste som sa tentoraz rozhodol venovať 1061 deťom, ktoré trpia hladom a navštevujú školu Mchinji Mission v africkom Malawi. Malawi je jednou z najchudobnejších krajín sveta a pretrvávajúca chudoba spolu s hladom výrazne obmedzujú možnosti detí vzdelávať sa. Chcem, aby aj tie najchudobnejšie deti mali to, čo sme vďaka dobrým ľuďom mali my – istotu jedla.

• Iba 22 € stačí organizácii Mary's Meals na to, aby malo jedno dieťa zabezpečený teplý obed v škole počas celého školského roka.

• Každý môj kilometer bude venovaný deťom, pre ktoré je školské jedlo šancou na lepšiu budúcnosť.

1. Finančný dar: Vašich 22 € znamená každodenné školské jedlo pre jedno dieťa na celý rok. Platí však, že akýkoľvek príspevok (5, 10, 22 alebo 50 €) sa zmení na konkrétnu pomoc.

My name is Karol Husár, and I am a father of six children. Life in a bigger family taught us many things, including and especially to honour our bread. There were times when we saw its value more than ever. We were often selflessly helped by people around us and by strangers as well.

Today, on my 70th birthday, I feel the time has come to “pay off this debt of selfless help”. The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela is therefore not only a personal challenge, but also a way to indirectly express gratitude to everyone who has helped us in the past, and to provide help where it is needed most.

Last autumn, I successfully walked the Way of St. James in Slovakia from Košice to Bratislava, and thanks to the generosity of many donors, I fed one whole school in Zambia. From the very beginning, I want to make my means of help as directed, concrete, and impactful as possible. The program Nasýťte školu, which enables me to gather funds for school meals for a whole school for one school year in one of the world’s poorest countries, is the perfect way of achieving it. This experience has encouraged me to walk even further. My current route goes from Slovakia through Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. There are more than 3,000 kilometres awaiting me.

I decided to dedicate my pilgrimage and the effort tied to it to 1,061 children who suffer from hunger and go to Mchinji Mission School in Malawi. Malawi is one of the poorest countries, and the ongoing poverty alongside hunger restricts the education opportunities for the children in the country. I want that even these poorest children receive what we had received due to the generosity of others, the fact that we were sure we would have something to eat.

• Only 22€ is enough for Mary’s Meals to feed a child with a warm school meal at school for one school year.

• I will dedicate every kilometre to children, for whom school meals represent an opportunity for a better future.

Mein Name ist Karol Husár und ich bin Vater von sechs Kindern. Das Leben in einer großen Familie hat uns vieles gelehrt – vor allem, dankbar zu sein für unser tägliches Brot. Es gab Zeiten, in denen wir das ganz besonders gespürt haben. Immer wieder haben uns Menschen aus unserem Umfeld, aber auch völlig Fremde, selbstlos geholfen.

Heute, an meinem 70. Geburtstag, habe ich das Gefühl, dass die Zeit gekommen ist, in Dankbarkeit dieses Geschenk der selbstlosen Hilfe zurückzugeben. Die Pilgerreise nach Santiago de Compostela ist daher nicht nur eine persönliche Herausforderung, sondern auch ein Weg, meine Dankbarkeit gegenüber all jenen auszudrücken, die uns in der Vergangenheit unterstützt haben – und gleichzeitig Hilfe dorthin zu bringen, wo sie am dringendsten gebraucht wird.

Im vergangenen Herbst bin ich bereits erfolgreich den Jakobsweg in der Slowakei von Košice nach Bratislava gegangen. Dank der Großzügigkeit vieler Spender konnte ich dabei eine ganze Schule in Sambia ein Jahr lang mit Schulmahlzeiten versorgen. Von Anfang an war es mir wichtig, meine Hilfe möglichst konkret, zielgerichtet und wirksam einzusetzen. Das Programm „Nasýťte školu“, dass es mir ermöglicht, Mittel für die Versorgung einer ganzen Schule mit täglichen Schulmahlzeiten für ein Jahr in einem der ärmsten Länder der Welt zu sammeln, ist dafür ideal.

Diese Erfahrung hat mich ermutigt, noch weiterzugehen. Meine aktuelle Route führt mich von der Slowakei durch Österreich, Deutschland, die Schweiz und Frankreich bis nach Santiago de Compostela in Spanien. Mehr als 3.000 Kilometer liegen vor mir.

Ich habe mich entschieden, meine Pilgerreise und alle damit verbundenen Anstrengungen den 1.061 Kindern der Mchinji Mission School in Malawi zu widmen – Kindern, die unter Hunger leiden. Malawi gehört zu den ärmsten Ländern der Welt, und Armut sowie Hunger verhindern das Zukunft der Kinder bevor sie überhaupt beginnen kann. Ich wünsche mir, dass auch diese Kinder das erleben dürfen, was wir dank der Großzügigkeit anderer erfahren haben: die Gewissheit, jeden Tag etwas zu essen zu haben.

• Schon 22 € reichen aus, damit Mary’s Meals ein Kind ein ganzes Schuljahr lang täglich mit einer warmen Mahlzeit in der Schule versorgen kann.

• Ich werde jeden einzelnen Kilometer den Kindern widmen – Kindern, für die eine Schulmahlzeit die Chance auf eine bessere Zukunft bedeutet.
